    The trial, scheduled to run from October 4th until November 9th, comes after Judge Kaplan denied a motion for Bankman-Fried's temporary release during a hearing on September 28th.

    The former FTX CEO's legal team had sought his temporary freedom, but the judge expressed concerns that Bankman-Fried might be a flight risk if the trial didn't go in his favor, citing his young age and the potential for a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.

    While temporary release was denied, the judge did grant Bankman-Fried some concessions.

    In an updated set of rules for public sector workers, the state wrote that public officials, including members of the armed forces and civil servants, should “refrain” from mining crypto when in working environments.

  • Binance has asked Paysafe users to convert their euro balances to USDT by the end of October as the payments provider has stopped processing euro deposits for the exchange's users.

    In a Thursday announcement, Binance said Paysafe has "unilaterally decided to stop processing EUR deposits for Binance users," advising users to convert their euro balances to USDT.

    The exchange also noted that users may continue to withdraw their euro balances from Binance accounts to their bank accounts.

    Binance further detailed that Paysafe users will no longer be able to trade EUR spot trading pairs from September 28 at 4:00 am UTC and open orders will be canceled an hour later.

    "Users are strongly advised to update and/or cancel their Spot Trading Bots prior to the cessation of Spot Trading Bots services to avoid any potential losses," the exchange said.

    Binance Convert, which operates like a token swap, will also be restricted for euro transactions.

    On Tuesday, Hong Kong police announced the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with the JPEX cryptocurrency exchange platform scandal.

    During a press conference on Wednesday, Chris Tang Ping-Keung, the Secretary for Security of Hong Kong, reassured the public that the police are fully committed to delivering justice to those affected by the JPEX cryptocurrency exchange fraud.

    Tang revealed that 12 arrests have been made so far, and assets totaling 77 million HKD ($9.8 million), including real estate and digital currency, along with over 8 million Hong Kong dollars ($1 million) in cash, have been seized.

    Among the arrested individuals are three employees from JPEX Technical Support Company, in addition to YouTubers Chan Wing-yee and Chu Ka-fa.

    However, as reported by the South China Morning Post, the total number of arrests has now reached 15.
